This piece, "Two way street", is my 2 point perspective drawing. The task was to successfully use vanishing points to show the 2 points of perspective within the drawing, In this drawing my vanishing points went off the paper, but the viewer can visualize the points farther away from the edges of the drawing. The key skills and knowledge in this project included using the correct vanishing point for each line and knowing the angles of each line and how they matched up with each vanishing point. Some other important drawing and design skills that this work addressed include proportion and the eye level line. In pieces like this, it is important to make everything proportional to each other so that it accurately represents the true characteristics of the subject. The eye level line is also important because that is the guide to where the drawing will be on the paper. The eye level line in this piece is at the bottom of the windows because that is the imaginary line that goes across the middle of the paper. In my final product, you will notice that I succeeded in using the vanishing points off the paper as a guide for the angle of each line, but had challenges with the placement of the image on the paper in relation to where I was sitting when I was drawing this. In the drawing it looks like there is lots of space in front of me on the floor, but in reality there was a wall right behind me and the space in front of me was more crammed than it appears. When I was drawing this piece, I actually could not see that much floor in front of me. What I learned while constructing and finishing this project is knowing which lines go to which vanishing points. I did not know that the other vanishing point was useful for lines on the opposite side of the vertical line. In reflecting on this piece, I am proud of how I was able to construct this drawing from the angle I was sitting at because I did not have a view of the corner and the two hallways right in front of me. I had to turn my head to get the complete view so it was hard to make everything proportional and to accurately represent the corner of the two hallways. I need to continue working on using the eye level line in the drawing compared to where I actually am. In this piece it looks like I was higher up than I actually was.
