This drawing of my name was our name plate drawing at the beginning of the semester. The task was to creatively draw our names in some way that represents us so that we could hang them above our shelves. The key skills and knowledge in this project included creativity and being able to put our names in a scene, making our names the subject of the piece. Some other important drawing and design skills that this work addressed include shading behind the letters to make it stand out against the background to emphasize the name as the main subject. In my final product, you will notice that I succeeded in shading my letters and making them look 3D so that the viewer's eye is drawn to my name first and then the background that represents my love for being outside. I had challenges with shading the water in the background to make it look like the river is flowing. What I learned while constructing and finishing this project is how to shade the letters so that they look 3D while matching the light source. In reflecting on this piece, I am proud of how the letters turned out and making it set in a scene rather than just putting objects in the background that represent me. I need to continue working on shading the water to make it look like the letters are sitting in the river rather than hovering above.
